We have seen groups of youths several times on the forest path with air guns and had to chase one, who was far too close to housing (including ours) with such a weapon.

We have reported this to the local police as well as the inconsiderate bikers and quad bikers who use the forest path as a racing track, endangering other users of the path such as walkers, cyclists, children, horses and dogs, as well as disturbing local residents.

They should perhaps know that the Access Scotland laws forbid the use of motorised vehicles in designated forest areas (which the Den is) and if caught can be prosecuted and their bikes confiscated.

We have witnessed groups of youths with air guns several times in the Den both on the path and close to housing (including ours) and have reported this to the police.

There appears to be a blatant disregard for the safety of others amongst certain groups including the increasing numbers of off road bikers/quad bikers who use the path in the Den as a racing track, ignoring the danger to other users of this designated bridle path.

This path is regularly used by walkers, cyclists, families, dog walkers and horses who have to take their chances with speeding motorbikes, not to mention the disturbance to local residents.

There have already been two accidents where motorcycles have gone over the banking. These motorcyclists may not be aware that the recent Access Scotland legislation bans the use of motorised vehicles in designated forest areas (of which the Den is one) and if caught they can be prosecuted and their motorcycles seized.

What happened to the good old days when police like Bob Scott and Eddie Wilson were around.

I've never been a lover of the police but must admit i respect the ways in which things were handled back then, many a times been when i was a youngster that i was chased or had my arse kicked for stepping out of line, only to get it kicked again when i got home for the police being at the door, bring back the old rules.

As for the motorbikes round the den, again i can't complain because i used to do it but this was in the time before designated motorcycle tracks and it is something i am strongly against these days.

I think there should be a warning system, 1 warning then on the second the bikes should be confiscated.

I urge all den users to make complaints and hopefully the police will do random checks on the den, weekends and school hols are the worst!
