Mark Hood calls for Gypsy Site to be put on hold

by Mark hood

A local councillor Mark Hood has called on the SNP administration running the Council to put on hold their plans for a gypsy traveller site to be established in Cardenden and listen to the community.

Fife Labour councillor Mark Hood has described the SNP councillor’s decision to ignore the legitimate concerns of the local community as ‘wrong’ and says this is the wrong way to go about setting up a site for travelling people.

Mr Hood commented after the meeting of Council  “The local people in Cardenden have been extremely patient with this SNP administration, this is third time I have raised their concerns with the chair of the committee and the third time they have refused to stop and listen to the community. Not until they put their plans on hold will the community feel that they are being properly listened too”.

Mr. Chisholm...are you going to stand with the people you represent or just toe the party line despite the views of the people that elected you as an SNP candidate. Dont think you said you would support this on your leaflet when you were looking for votes

I wonder why I vote at all I moved to Cardenden 5 years ago, in that time all the council has done is let Gypsys move in and built aa abnormal amount of speed bumps and I am still awaiting a reply from our frienly councillor as to why so many speed bumps are required in Cardenden     when the roads are in a terrible state domt repair just build speed bumps   shocking

karen mackay says

i feel it is unfair of any one to appose the site being built for travllers at the end of the day everyone has the rite to live and this is there way of living give them a break

I can see where you're coming from Karen i used to feel the same way but i can remember when the travellers set up home across from Auchterderren school-(breaking the law, urinating and emptying their waste in peoples gardens and there was also the mention of stealing going on), i for one do NOT want them in our village.

Dave Roy says

The stop over site at Pitcairn - Cardenden for travelling people has been rejected. Main reasons for rejection were due to the site being unsuitable. More on this story in the Central Fife Times.

mary murdoch says

Good news for our village, hopefully we will also see some improvements and upgrades to our roads soon

Fiona Campbell says

It seems that the report in the Central Fife Times was incorrect.  No formal decision has been made on the Pitcairn Site - the architect has advised that it could be developed at a cost and there are apparently three other sites in the area under consideration.
