Dundonald Institute reported closure

by Isabella Martin

It has been reported in local news papers of the closure of the institute. this has never been discussed with the user of this institute.

The institute is the main facilites of dundonald also for functions out with the area. The only day the institute is not in use is a sunday.

Can the powers that be speak with the people who use these facilities and explain why Dundonald is to close.

Are the people of Dundonald to suffer again in favour of other centres

Jessie Reilly says

About the supposed closer of Dundonald Institute, I for one have made use of it for the last 18 yrs with the locaL Tea Dance ,we have a group on average of 50-60 who love to Dance, listen to the music and enjoy a cup of tea weekly, are we of no account to the council, are we not considered impotant enought to come along and speak to us, come on the users stick by us and try to stop all this talk of the closer of our only community hall

William Miller says

This is just another example of the needs of the community being ignored by Fife Council. It equates with the lack of consultation with the users of the Woodside Hall in Glenrothes when it was basically handed over to Tullis Russell Mills Band without consultation.

It is just another step on the road to redundancy among local authority workers. Never mind the needs of the Communities. Save the cash  spent on maintenance and wages and the books will balance - not!

Pay off the multitude of managers and assistant managers and depute managers at their inflated salaries and you never know, the books may just balance enough to maintain the facilities and the front-line staff delivering essential services to the community - was that not the main function of a local authority ?

Susan Drybrgh Says

Does the council realise what the closure will do to 400 people who are members of Cardenden and Kinglassie credit unuon as the main office is in the centre and are well established and have been for 16 years. Does the same council who profess to assist this service now wish to abandon this service to local members
