Council looking at Cardenden site for travellers' caravans
26 AugustA new site for gypsy travellers on the outskirts of Cardenden is being looked at by Council bosses, as part of a working group planning to provide new sites in the Kingdom.
The new site, on land at Pitcairn on the Jamphlars road heading out of the village towards Lochgelly, would have space to take up to ten caravans.
It would only be available for short-term stays of a few nights for travellers passing through on the way to other destinations, not for long term camps.
The site is one of four being considered by the Council's gypsy travellers working group, which was set up to try to come up with a solution to the issue of travellers setting up camps on open spaces, parkland and private ground around the region.
