Cardenden schools and services hit by storms
8 DecemberPupils at Cardenden schools are being sent home early as facilities close their doors, and transport is badly affected, as gale force winds his across Scotland.
All schools in Cardenden, and across Fife, are closing early today - Thursday 8th December as a precaution after the Scottish Government issued a 'red alert' weather warning late on Wednesday night. The area is now, along with the rest of central Scotland, being battered by gale-force winds.
Schools are expected to re-open on Friday, weather permitting. You can follow more details here on the Fife Council website.
Travel is also being disrupted, with the Forth Road Bridge closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.
The red warning advises that there are likely to be strong winds of 75-80 miles per hour with gusts of up to 90mph.
Police advise that conditions for travel between 12noon and 3pm are likely to be poor and you should expect significant delays. The weather could result in all main road bridges being closed and there may be disruption to power supplies. They are also preparing for blown over trees and vehicles.
