Denend primary school football team 1955

by Charles Kenny

My name is Chick Kenny, and I was born and raised in Dundonald. Recently there was a photo of Denend primary school's football team. The 3 adults in the photo were Bob Gilfillan, Beetle Duncan and Mr. Hood. I think my twin brother Jimmy is one of the players. There were no names on the picture. Can anyone supply the Names?

Hi all I went to Denend school back in 1955-1958. I was born in Cardenden before mooving to Dundonald Crescent where my family lived until until 1958 when we  then mooved to Sydney Australia. I was born in 1948, Murray Brown

Dave Lamb says

hiya Murray..Jimmy West, Bobby &Frank Torbet, Davie Peebles, were just a few I remember from the Crescent do any of  these names ring a bell with ye  :-) ps keep in touch.

Murray Brown says

Hi Dave, yes I know Jimmy West he is my cousin as is Irene his sister, also I remember the Torbet`s but can not recall Davie Peebles. I have been in contact with Mary Peebles who lived in the Crescent, she still lives in Dundonald not sure where though.

Dave Lamb says

yes, thats Davie's sister...what I forgot was that quite a few left the raws to move into the Cresent. I lived in Dundonald Park opposite what used to be the local police station. It's only 2  yrs. past Jan.since my mother died, having lived there since 1950. We moved from the prefabs in Cardenden to there, and I can remember that....btw where's Jimmy West now.?

Murray Brown says

Hi Dave, Mary dose have a brother Davie & she said to say hi and all the best. Jimmy West moved to St Mary`s a suburb of Sydney Australia back in the 60`s with his mum & dad. He got married many year ago & was divorced before remarrying, have not seen him for many years or his sister Irene. His father died about 3 years ago not sure if his mother still alive, she was in a home last time I heard. I lost touch after we moved to Western Australia 10 years ago.

Dave Lamb says

well there ye go...and thank you for that info. We're so lucky I think, to have all ths technology at our finger tips and at our age when we  can reach out and gather all this information. I can remember horse drawn carts delivering all sorts to our doors, great ehh just great!..ok, any advance on the names of the guy's on the gangway of the boat to Arran, I know 5, the others ?

Dave Lamb says

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
