I was at Auchterderran until 1961. I remember Bill O'Hara from school and Carden Castle Avenue, as I remember Sheena Marr, (Harley), who I recall meeting some years later, (when you were working for Alexanders, Sheena). I also remember Christine Beattie, and many of the other names I have come across on this site, which I will now return to from time to time. Great memories and photographs, I'm off to the attic to see if I can find some old pics.

Isobel Beck says

Hi Bob

It has been a life time and I left the country when I was 18 so I don't remember too many people. I did live in the prefabs and I remember Robert Harley from your list. Do you remember Jimmy Meek? I have had a few emails from him. He lives in Spain now.

Bob Kirk says

Yes, I remember him. Funny how after all those years you read a name and their face pops into your mind.

I lived in a prefab, 22 Whitehall Avenue, before flitting down to Cluny Park. Wasn't it great having a fridge like all the posh folk?

Isobel Beck says

I lived at 12 Whitehall Drive, next door to Wullie Mackie. I still have a scar on my head where he hit me with a sand pail. Yes it was great having a fridge and a bath tub, we thought we had died and gone to heaven. We moved to Dundonald from the prefabs. Do you remember Laine Fowler and George Scally? I remember Robert Harley and Jimmy Wylie. Funny how these names are coming back to me.

mary anderson says

hello my name is mary anderson,I went to cardenden school, then on to Auchterderran. I lived in 155 whitehall avenue. we emigrated to Australia in1961. I have been trying to catch up with a few friends from school   can I ask Isobel Beck fof Jimmy Meeks  email address. I am his cousin but we have lost touch over the years.

Isobel Beck says

Hi Mary not sure how to go about getting Jimmy's email address to you as this site won't display email addresses, which is a good thing.

Will contact Jimmy and see what he says.

Isobel

mary anderson says

thanks Isobel for getting back to me, it would be great to hear from Jimmy after all these years,I am on facebook if anyone would like to contact me, it would be good to catch up after all these years cheers Mary

Agnes Duncan Macmichael says

Hi Folks, good to hear so much going on with old school friends etc. I was Agnes Paterson and lived in Dundonald Crescent. I too, like others, remember a lot of names and am in touch with Isobel Beck, which has been great. I now meet monthly with quite a few of my old school friends after managing to track some of them down and we have now been meeting for about 4 years. It is great catching up.  would like to hear from anyone else who remembers me.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
